Easyinternetcafé finds it isn't easy to obey copyright law
The "Easy" chain of orange-themed companies and owner Stelios Haji-Ionnou have incurred the wrath of many big music producers including Sony and Polydor and now also the High Court by allowing users of the "Easy café" internet branches to download music from the internet and burn it onto a cd for a fee of just £5. Easyinternetcafé Limited were found guilty of copyright infringement however, damages are yet to be set.
BRIFFA Comment:
It is somewhat surprising that Stelios should be quite so public in his accepting of copyright piracy. He is very conscious of intellectual property rights having fought several parties over alleged trade mark infringements and passing off incidents in the not-so-distant past. Rather than get caught out like Stelios, if you are unsure as to how you stand with regard to intellectual property laws please do not hesitate to contact us
